bob hayes…”bullet bob”…was at one time dubbed “the world’s fastest human”.  he won olympic goal in 1964…winning the 100a meter dash in the worst running lane on the track and using borrowed shoes.  that year he joined the dallas cowboys…usually wore #22…and especially in his first two years had a stellar career.  he never made it to the hall of fame due, some say, in part to controversy about his drug abuse problems and because of the hall of fame’s general aversion to having too many dallas cowboy inductees.  i remember watching bob hayes winning this gold medal…i remember his days in dallas…and that started my affinity for the cowboys.  sometimes you just latch onto something and have no need to let go
