when it hits 10%

the unemployment rate in the u.s. is rising…fast.  there is good speculation it will hit 10%.  given what i am aware of within the business world, it feels like the unemployment rate is over 30%.  then again, i never presume what i feel is reality.

what i do know is that, while companies are having to make difficult decisions to stay in business, it also is evident that some companies are making difficult decisions to remain profitable.  and while i totally understand the business reality, people’s lives are increasingly impacted…families are struggling…the outcome is dark.

i would like to propose that, if the unemployment rate hits some set percentage, layoffs occur within the government.  i wonder what would happen if there were layoffs in congress.  i wonder what would happen if there were layoffs in the supreme court.  if wonder what decisions would be made by both government and business if the layoff picture was uniformly experienced across all sectors.  i wonder what creative solutions would arise.
