no one thought of it

perhaps it will be my good fortune.  since 3rd grade i have been of the understanding that, of all the english words, there is no rhyming word with “orange”.  i recall spending a couple of days one year racking my brain and looking through my dictionary looking for a word that rhymed with orange.  there hasn’t been such a word…and still now isn’t such a word.  and that boggles my mind…that someone hasn’t come up with a word that rhymes with orange.  new words have been invented.  the computer age…and particularly the dawn of instant message and tweets has created new words that have already or will likely be added to the english lexicon.  take the word “blog”.  that’s new…at least in its current rendition.

Etymology: 21st Century English, from  Old English duru door & dor gate; akin to Old High German turi door, Latin fores, Greek thyra aand the assemblage of megaliths S England in Wiltshire on Salisbury Plain erected by prehistoric people.  Modern usage: ritualized entryway to mystical array of symbolic structures, often with religious meaning.
When i was in 7th grade, during the 4 months of my second of three personal hell experiences, i wrote a brief story about four friends who would gather once a month in a private room and engage in a seance-type experience where they would live out a different life connected only through their combined thoughts.  i struggled with fully developing that story but knew it was unique and different.  to think that my idea was 30 years before the time of virtual reality and avatars.
